The State Government has released a Discussion Paper entitled the Queensland Building Plan for consultation. The Paper covers of a range of areas including a review of licencing and plumbing and drainage laws, the potential for a single state housing code and the sustainability of buildings.
The Paper also suggests there is a potential conflict of interest where there are ongoing business relationships between certifiers and builders, and includes a proposal to remove competition from certification services. Instead certifiers would be allocated work by the QBCC for a standardised fee. The Discussion Paper can be found at http://queenslandbuildingplan.engagementhq.com/
