The Queensland Development Code MP 4.1 – Sustainable Buildings

The Queensland Development Code MP 4.1 – Sustainable Buildings has been amended effective 2 November 2020.

The main changes include the introduction of heating and cooling load limits if completing a NatHERS assessment, as well as changes to the VURB assessment method.

Advice from Accelerate Sustainability Assessments is that this may have significant implication for building design and compliance, with associated construction costs. It is strongly advised that builders contact their energy efficiency assessor as soon as possible for further advice on how this will impact their building designs.

Applications lodged before 2nd November 2020 will be assessed under the current requirements.

Correction – The Queensland Development Code MP 4.1 – Sustainable Buildings amendment has been delayed until March 1st 2021

QLD Government have delayed the commencement of the QDC MP 4.1 amendment until March 1st 2021. PCG welcomes the delay as this allows additional time for builders to familiarise themselves with the proposed changes.

Additionally the Code has been altered further since yesterday, and PCG recommends that builders contact their energy efficiency assessor for further information.
